This spring the Zurich Graduate School in Mathematics (ZGSM) offers two one-day workshops in transferable skills held by Dr. Monika Clausen.

Friday, 31 March 2017: How to apply for jobs in private industry
Topics: application documents, transferable competences, job selection and career impact

Monday, 3 April 2017: Training for jobs in private industry
Topics: settings, typical questions, self-marketing

Here is what participants from last year said about the workshops:
Participant of „How to apply for jobs in private industry“:
“I feel much more confident about writing a non-academic CV than before the workshop. The workshop was very interactive: Monika encouraged us to describe what we wanted out of a career in the industry and adapted her class accordingly. I appreciated that her advice was precise and down to earth. It was a very intense day that gave me a first glimpse of the non-academic world.”

Participant of both workshops:
“I am so happy that I attended the two workshops, they have given me a lot of valuable insight and knowledge about the whole application process. Monika has given us extremely helpful advice on how to structure our application documents thematically and visually, on what is expected from HR, on which questions we should ask ourselves before … It was about all those tiny details which help you to stick out of the large pile on the HR desk. … It was great to get advice of a former HR person and Monika was very nice and down-to-earth … In the second workshop, I would first like to point out that the worksheets are extremely helpful. I like that they are targeted to overcome specific obstacles in an interview … I feel like I can prepare very well for job interviews now … it was a great training, and it was cool to get immediate feedback on how the own performance was …”

The workshops are sponsored by ZGSM and take place in rooms at ETH centre. The costs for ZGSM members (PhD students, Postdocs) are 100 CHF per day. The money has to be payed in advance. You can either register for both workshops or only for one of them.

If you have any further questions or would like to register please contact Ms. Jessica Bolsinger (email: info@zgsm.ch).
